Blue-J’s name has nothing to with birds. ‘Blue’ is a reference to the color of the puzzle piece which the Autism speaks society uses as it’s logo.
‘J’ stands for Janet Schultz, the owner of the company who has a background in special education (thus uniquely preparing her to lead the organization).
The major function of the company is train promising people who happen to have Autism for the working world. Traits such as reliability, perseverance and attention to detail are developed.
